金子ゆかり　ご挨拶　Opening Address by Kaneko Yukari

これからは地方分権時代がやってくると言われています。日本の国家を挙げて一律 の戦後復興時代はとうに過ぎました。小さな政府の方向性も唱えられるなか、自分たち の町は自分たちでつくりあげるのだ、わが町の特徴はこれなんですというものがある事 が大切だと思います。そこには当然自分たちの町に対する責任をとるという姿勢も重要 になります。私は幸いにオリンピックで名をあげた長野にいます。さらに私は、山紫水 明のこの信州にあって、温泉と観光の町諏訪、かって製糸産業から精密産業へと栄え、 「東洋のスイス」と言われ、産業の先駆者であったこの諏訪に誇りを持っています。最 近はどこも不景気で元気が出ないようですが、こんなときこそ信州人の、そして諏訪人 のプライドを取り戻し、新しい風を教育に、起業化に、福祉文化に、男女共同参画に、 自然や人との共生社会に吹かせたいと思うのです。

The age of power decentralization is coming. The era in which Japan achieved post-war development as a state has already passed. While the need for small government is propagated, it is us who make our hometown better. We should have features of our hometown which we can be proud of. At the same time, we should be responsible for the development of our town in the age of decentralization. I am lucky enough because I am in Nagano, the famous prefecture for the Olympic Game. Furthermore, I am very much proud of this region Shinsyu with beautiful mountains and lakes, and Suwa, my hometown. Suwa is a town of hot springs and sightseeing. Suwa is also a town of entrepreneurship, which has witnessed many prosperous industries such as the silk-reeling industry in the pre-war period and the precision machinery industry nowadays, and is called Switzerland in the Orient. I feel everywhere in Japan have recently lost its energy due to the economic slump. Therefore I dare to insist. Now is the time to wake up Suwa, Shinshu, and Japan! Recall the proud of Suwa people, and of Shinshu people! Reform education and welfare system! Support entrepreneurs! Make the society into more collaborating one between men and women. And finally make environmentally friendly community where people and nature are able to co-exist.
